Brian Graham.
My uncle was an amazing guy, his wit and sense of humor were by far the best! Lol
I am saying that cause we were very similar in that way.
He joined the armed forces when he was young and was stationed in Kingston, and Calgary.
He wanted to go out into the field so bad but that was not meant to be.
He decided to become a Chaplin figuring that would be his way into being overseas.
However, that didn’t turn out like he wanted to either.
So, he decided to move to Taiwan to teach English instead.
He loved his students, and he would make a traditional Christmas dinner for them during the season.
Since he was not home a lot when he did come home it was a very rare treat. He would dress up as Santa a couple of times and hand out gifts to my cousins and I when we were older.
He was such a debonair, suave guy.
He had the gift of gab and could make you feel extremely important.
His calls home were ones that when it came you loved it. He used to get my mom going sometimes, even though this was my dad’s baby brother.
He liked to laugh and joke around a lot.
He didn’t talk a lot about his time in the military, or at least none that I can remember but we did visit him once when he lived in Kingston. He would take us to the neighborhood pub that he and his buddies would frequent.
He had one true love, and never found love again after that was complete.
Uncle Brian’s gifts to me were:
· Laugh, live, love
· Love deeply and love hard
· Do what makes you happy
· Don’t stay in a place if it makes you miserable
· Service above self
· Play the game to win
· Travel while you can
· Be brave enough to face your fears
· Teach people what you know
Brain was a true missionary, he loved people, he loved service, and he had fun in all that he did.
He lived for himself and did what he loved to do. His legacy will life on his work he did in Taiwan and it’s an honour to be part of his family.
Be like Brian and do what you love, and love what you do.
If there is something in your life that doesn’t bring you joy now is the time to get rid of it.
I would love to hear about your stories of someone in your life that inspired you to go for it and lived life outside the box.
Be UNSTOPPABLE in ALL that you do!
With love and gratitude,
Dorothy
